We spend each and every Cosplay Friday highlighting the work of people who pour sweat, tears, and sometimes blood into making costumes inspired by their favorite fictional stories. I am regularly in awe of what fans create, and a new series on Syfy is going to celebrate the moxie and skill of such creators. Cosplay Melee, hosted by one of the most delightful humans on the planet, Yvette Nicole Brown, is a competition series that will feature four world class cosplayers each week. They have to make full body costumes and use performance to bring their characters to life. A panel of judges—including cosplayer LeeAnna Vamp and costume creator Christian Beckman—will guide and critique them. And oh, we have an exclusive look at key art for the series:
Cosplay Melee will debut on Syfy on Tuesday, March 21.
Now, let’s get to looking at the work of a talented cosplayer, Kira Rhian. Please admire this lovely Labyrinth piece (she’s Sarah!):
See more of Kira Rhian’s costumes in the gallery below. You’ll find another Labyrinth shot, a Moxxi costume from Borderlands, and other ensembles. Then, head to Facebook to see additional examples of her work.
Do you cosplay or take photographs of cosplayers? Then I want to see your work so we can talk about highlighting your creations in a future Cosplay Friday gallery. If you’re interested, please get in touch with me at [email protected] and send hi-res photos you’d like me to feature. Be sure to provide credits for the cosplayers or photographers for each image because giving credit is good manners–bonus points if you include links to relevant Facebook pages or websites. Though I wish I knew all the geek franchises, I don’t, so please let me know who or what is being cosplayed.
