When it comes to dogs in pop culture, many of us grew up with animated ones who shaped our formative years. I’m pretty sure most of Gen X and Millennials were deeply into the adventures of Scooby-Doo and his band of nosy teenage human pals. And, even though we were a little older by the time the PBS series came out, we grew up reading Clifford the Big Red Dog books. Through his relationships with his humans and other dogs, we learned about solving problems, making friends, and contributing good into this world. Those are lessons that need to be taught more than ever, as you can see. So, we are happy that PBS Kids is rebooting Clifford the Big Red Dog in a new animated series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new Clifford show will teach preschool aged kids “important foundational social skills” like the ones we mentioned above. They will also learn through play, which is such a vital part of childhood. The Clifford the Big Red Dog animated series reboot will have 26 episodes to start and air on PBS Kids in 2027. Each episode will be around 11 minutes long.
“Clifford has been a favorite with children and families for generations, and we can’t wait to reintroduce this Big Red Dog to PBS Kids audiences across the country,” said Sara DeWitt, senior vice president and general manager, PBS Kids and Education. “Giving kids the skills, knowledge, and encouragement they need to connect with others and sustain relationships is more vital than ever to prepare them for success in school and life.”
Not gonna lie, we are probably going to check this series out. If nothing else, it is fun to watch an adorable massive dog figure out his way in the even bigger world.
