Claudia Black Won’t Return in AHSOKA Season 2, Says Disney Won’t Pay Her Fairly

The second season of Ahsoka is currently in production with our titular Jedi stuck in another galaxy. One main role, Baylan Skoll, had to recast due to the tragic death of Ray Stevenson. But now another character from season one will seemingly also be recast. In an interview with Bleeding Cool (via Deadline), former Farscape actress Claudia Black revealed she won’t return as Nightsister Klothow. According to Claudia Black, Disney wasn’t willing to pay her what she felt she deserved for Ahsoka season two. And so, she decided to sit this one out. Here’s what she had to say about her decision not to return:

Well, I’m going to be transparent. They picked up Season two, picked me up with it, and then Disney, which is structuring things differently these days, could not pay me what I needed to be paid as a single mother to keep all my responsibilities going at home in Los Angeles, because they were filming in London. It was not something that they could make happen, and therefore, I had to bow out for Season two.

Despite saying she is “very sad about it,” it doesn’t seem the Stargate SG-1 star has any ill feelings for the creatives. She sent an email to Ahsoka showrunner Dave Filoni thanking him for the opportunity. She said, “Everyone like me who grew up in the ’70s and ’80s has always been into the Star Wars universe. And it’s a very playful environment to work in. I’m grateful that I got to be in that universe, lovely people, lovely directors, interesting to work on The Volume.”

It seems budgets for these streaming shows are getting tighter, and Black’s departure is an unfortunate consequence. We’re pretty sure Nightsister Klothow will return, but as of now, who will play her is a mystery. We expect season two of Ahsoka to drop on Disney+ sometime next year.
