Charlize Theron Reveals Look At Her MCU Character Clea

Charlize Theron is a name you wanted associated with a project, especially an action project. From her iconic turn as Imperator Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road to her fan-favorite outing as Andy on The Old Guard, we know Theron has great presence. And now Theron has landed another powerful role fans might recognize. Charlize Theron took to social media to tease her latest character, one who belongs to the MCU. Theron plays Clea in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

“Meet Clea.” Charlize Theron simply captions the post about her new character. But who is Theron’s Clea? Well, it turns out Theron wants us to meet her newly minted MCU character. Yes, Charlize Theron has joined the MCU as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Clea, a character that fans may recognize. In fact, those long-time Doctor Strange comics enthusiasts may have been asking why Clea hadn’t already appeared in the franchise.

But who is Doctor Strange‘s Clea? Well, in the comics, she’s a cosmic hero who is actually related to the demon Dormammu. She’s also one of Stephen Strange’s major love interests and occasionally the Sorceress Supreme of the Dark Dimension. So, she’s only a little important.

Although we’re glad to see Clea, Theron’s cameo was a pretty quick one for now. Clea appeared in the first Doctor Strange 2 post-credits scene (technically, the mid-credits scene.) But already, we can tell she means business. “You caused an Incursion, and we’re going to fix it,” Clea tells Doctor Strange. “Unless you’re too scared.” And off they go, into the dark dimension, and presumably Doctor Strange 3.

So, if you’re asking whether Clea and Charlize Theron will be back for more MCU adventures after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we’d bet the answer is yes. And that works for us because Clea is both fabulous and cosmic. We can’t wait to see more of Theron’s purple eye makeup and, of course, more multiversal Marvel shenanigans.
