Anime fans were shocked to hear today’s announcement that the current saga of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man manga will end with its next part. The news came abruptly. The Academy Saga, often referred to as Part 2, will officially end in two weeks. Chainsaw Man‘s 232nd and final chapter concludes the series on Tuesday, March 24.

The annoucement surfaced on the official Japanese Chainsaw Man X account on March 10. This is far sooner than fans ever thought imaginable. The popular manga, which is published bi-weekly, began on July 13, 2022. Part 2 of Fujimoto’s hit manga is a bit more controversial than the first, but remains as popular as ever. This week’s chapter ended on a very somber note (spoilers ahead) in which Pochita tells Denji goodbye and eats himself to erase his existence. With only one chapter left, it feels like a decent chunk of plot to wrap up quickly.
Chapter 231 begins with Pochita telling Denji that they have both been eaten by a devil. Pochita tells the boy that he was happier in the beginning of the story, when he was selling his organs and eating spoiled bread. He proceeds to eat himself, erasing the existence of Chainsaw Man from the world. “Keep on dreaming,” he tells Denji. “In a world without me.” The chapter concludes with an image of the shack Denji lived in at the start of the series.
Will Chainsaw Man See a Part 3?

It’s unclear whether or not there will be a Part 3 to Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man. With how suddenly everything ended in Part 2, we sure hope there is in order to flesh out any unresolved plot points. It’s surely possible to bring the story of protagonists Denji and Asa to a well-rounded end with one final part, but unlikely. Especially with the thought of a Pochita-less world looming overhead. Chainsaw Man‘s 232nd chapter will be available on Jump Plus, or Manga Plus outside of Japan.
