I hope you haven’t had your fill of seeing Stephen King‘s stories on the screen, because Hulu‘s first look at Castle Rock, executive produced by J.J. Abrams, is likely to make you happy. And spooked. The footage debuted at New York Comic Con and gives a peek at how Castle Rock is reeling in the fishing line with King’s rich multiverse on the hook. The show is swirling everything together on a large scale. It must be daunting, but from this teaser, I’m feeling confident.
Watch.
I see you, Shawshank Department of Corrections sticker.
That trailer is straight up giving me chills. Haunting is the word that comes to mind, which is exactly what you want in a drama based on the world of King. It’s set in the fictional town Castle Rock; the locale is home to Cujo, Needful Things, and The Dead Zone among others. And did you notice actors such as Sissy Spacek, a.k.a. Carrie, and Bill Skarsgård, a.k.a. Pennywise from It in the first look? All the King things!
The specific release date hasn’t been announced for the first season, which will have 10 episodes. We know it’s coming in 2018, but I hope it’s on the earlier side.
What are your expectations for Castle Rock? How many King stories can you pinpoint in the first trailer? Share your thoughts in the comments.
