Bill Nye Saves The World!

If your adolescence straddled any part of the mid to late 90’s, then this guy was likely part of your after school rotation:

From 1993 to 1998, Nye brought his unique show to PBS. With his good nature and ineffable charm, he proved that not only could science be fun, it could actually be cool. He has cultivated serious cred in both academic and pop-culture circles and became an icon that endures to this day, counting such luminaries as Neil DeGrasse Tyson and Barack Obama as buddies among many others. Of course he’s never lost that charm that made him so kid-friendly, but in recent years has become an outspoken proponent of science and logic, and at times an outright enemy of irrational thought. It’s all for the greater good, and like any good scientist, he backs up his arguments with data and results.

So In 2017? He’s going to save the world.

On Netflix, at least.

Bill Nye Saves The World, debuting in spring of 2017, will feature Nye taking on scientific myths and misconceptions stemming from a variety of sources or ripped from the headlines. The show will feature special guests, experiments, and any number of other surprises.

“Since the start of the ‘Science Guy’ show, I’ve been on a mission to change the world by getting people everywhere excited about the fundamental ideas in science,” said Nye. “Today, I’m excited to be working with Netflix on a new show, where we’ll discuss the complex scientific issues facing us today, with episodes on vaccinations, genetically modified foods and climate change. With the right science and good writing, we’ll do our best to enlighten and entertain our audience. And, perhaps we’ll change the world a little.”

As soon as the series drops in 2017, you can be sure the Geek & Sundry crew will be there to binge every single episode of this promising series. FOR SCIENCE!
