Best Things Streaming on Disney Plus This Month

Welcome to our The Best Things Streaming column where each month we’ll run down the best of what’s hitting your fave streaming channel! This month we’re adding Disney+ to our ongoing streaming roundup as the mouse house has a whole bunch of new content joining in April. From hilarious clip shows to classic movies, cartoon classics to contemporary hits through new episodes of fan fave shows Disney+ will likely have something for everyone this month.

Onward

In a tweet early on March 20, Disney+ tweeted its still-technically-in-theaters Pixar film Onward would be available for purchase on digital download that night and to Disney+ on April 3. So in addition to Frozen II, you’ll get another recent animated hit for streaming enjoyment.

The Straight Story

Disney

David Lynch on Disney+?!?! Could you ever imagine it? Well, it’s happening and it’s his long out of print Oscar-nominated drama The Straight Story. The deeply moving biographical film follows a man who takes a ride across America on his lawnmower in order to see his ailing brother who he hopes to make amends with. In the realm of Lynch this may be his strangest simply because of how much of a “normal” Hollywood movie The Straight Story is.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars (S7)
Ahsoka looks up in The Clone Wars

Disney

In case you didn’t realize, we’re all big fans of The Clone Wars here at Nerdist. The acclaimed Star Wars animated series has returned for a seventh and final season and we’ll get four new episodes this month which will continue to expand on the amazing adventures of Ahsoka Tano.

Disney Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure (S3)

Disney

If you’ve yet to check out this stunning animated series that takes on the story of Tangled heroine Rapunzel, then you’re in for a treat. Complex storytelling, gorgeous animation, and amazing voice actors have made this one of the most popular new cartoons among animation diehards! With Disney+ adding season three it’s the perfect time to join the thriving fandom!

National Treasure

National Treasure is just that… a literal national treasure. Luckily Disney+ has realized that and is adding it to their service at the end of the month. Nicolas Cage stars as Benjamin Franklin Gates, a treasure hunter who has to throw caution to the wind in order to find the titular treasure, which may or may not be connected to the Freemasons and a millennia old conspiracy! Silly, fun, and starring Cage and his Cagiest, we adore this film and can’t wait for a potential third entry into the franchise.
