We love to take our love for things above and beyond. And when the world has gifted you with a unique talent or gift, what better than to share that with everyone? One Alabama-based craftsman is sharing his gift with an exclusive collaboration with Yu-Gi-Oh! For the past 25 years, Yu-Gi-Oh! has amassed an impressive following of devotees for both the anime and original Manga. Kicking off a new line of hand-crafted guitars, artist Bear Walker has created a very cool Yu-Gi-Oh! Red-Eyes Black Dragon Guitar, bringing one of the franchise’s most iconic monsters to life.
The impressive design is completely hand-crafted and carved from wood. The body of the guitar resembles one of the franchise’s most ferocious foes, the Red-Eyes Black Dragon. Along the neck is custom Yu-Gi-Oh! Katakana lettering. It’s pretty freaking cool. Walker will produce just 25 of these beauties, making them a rarity. The craftsman carries the entire process from beginning to end.
“I’ve always been drawn to projects that blur the line between art and something functional,” Walker said. “With these guitars, I wanted to bring the same level of craftsmanship and creativity that people know from my skateboards into an instrument that is as equally functional as it is beautiful. Having one luthier guide each guitar through the entire build lets us focus on every detail and make sure each one is truly special.”
The care he takes in creating these impressive designs shines through. The Yu-Gi-Oh! universe traverses a trading card game, original Manga series, and eight anime series. According to original anime’s lore, the Red-Eyes Black Dragon is a very powerful, very rare creature. Across the franchise, there are definitely much stronger cards out there. Still, it’s hard to argue against how cool the Red-Eyes Black Dragon looks, especially on a guitar.
The hand-crafted Yu-Gi-Oh! guitar is available exclusively on Bear Walker’s website. The iconic creation carries a pretty hefty price of $12,500. Still, given the exclusivity and attention to detail, I have no doubt they will sell pretty quick. Future designs and collaborations are already in the works.
