BARBIE to Release in IMAX with New Post-Credits Scenes

Barbie and Oppenheimer heated up the box office this summer. But it was Oppenheimer that took over IMAX theaters during their theatrical dance off. That was all well and good since the movie was designed especially to be seen in that format. But now, it’s Barbie‘s turn to grace us with her truest self. Beginning September 22, Barbie will release on IMAX screens and spend a week on the biggest screens at the movie theater. But that’s not all the good news. Before Barbie released, many wondered whether Barbie would have a post-credits scene to give the audience one last treat. But in normal movie theaters, Barbie did not have a scene after the credits. Now though, IMAX audiences will get brand new post-credits footage to give us even more scenes of Barbie and Ken fun.

Greta Gerwig, Barbie‘s director, shares a bit more about the IMAX run and new post-credits scenes, “We made ‘Barbie’ for the big screen, so it’s a thrill to be able to bring it to Imax, the biggest screen of all… As a special thanks to ‘Barbie’ fans, we’re excited to share a little bit more of our cast and crew’s incredible work by adding special new footage we hope audiences will enjoy.”

Who doesn’t need more Barbie in their lives? After its release rumors circulated that Barbie cut a post-credits scene from its plans titled “Midge in Labor.” It seemed like the scene would feature the discontinued and pregnant doll Midge, as well as an appearance by Barbie‘s narrator Helen Mirren. Could this be the new Barbie post-credits scene we’ll see in IMAX? Only time will tell.
