It’s been a couple of months since Avengers: Endgame came out, and I think we can safely say now that the final battle is indeed the greatest and most epic fight scene in the history of comic book movies. It’s the kind of thing we all dreamed of seeing as kids, but never thought would actually happen. Of course, if it had happened on the big screen when we were all kids, there would have been the inevitable tie-in 16-bit video game to go along with it. Thankfully, YouTube channel Mr. Sunday Movies has created a 16-bit version of the Endgame final battle for all of us to enjoy. And it’s perfection.
The Avengers: Endgame recreation is actually just the latest episode from Mr. Sunday Movies’ series “16 Bit Scenes,” which has also included other kick-ass sequences from recent movies like the Snoke throne room fight from The Last Jedi and Jason Momoa’s epic rooftop battle against Black Manta in Aquaman. But we don’t think any of the previous videos had nearly as many characters as this one does. John Stratman created the old-school style video game animation for this, and Kenny Mac did the music. And it will all take you back to the old SNES days. Mac also shared a behind-the-scenes look at how that track was done.We kind of hope we get a sequel video to this one; the action ends pretty much right when the cavalry shows up. I mean, I think we need to see Spider-Man go into “instant kill mode,” not to mention the whole running of the Gauntlet scene. And of course we need to see Captain Marvel show up and lay waste to Thanos’ forces, because who doesn’t want to see that awesomeness again?
