Armie Hammer is taking on the role of a Dark Knight…sort of. No, not that Dark Knight. Apparently he is playing some other vigilante character who is not Batman in a film that was initially called The Dark Knight. You can see why that would’ve been problematic move. Also, we don’t want to see him as Batman and would rather have a R. Patz returnOpens in a new tab. In a previous VarietyOpens in a new tab report, this film starring Armie Hammer and directed by Uwe Boll is a vigilante crime thriller that began filming in Croatia at the end of January.
Now, a more recent VarietyOpens in a new tab report says that the former The Dark Knight title for Armie Hammer’s film is scrapped in favor of a new title, Citizen Vigilante. Not a big fan of it but whatever. This change apparently came after hearing from Warner Bros. and Batman fans.

“We had a very friendly conversation with Warner Bros. and decided to change our title to ‘Citizen Vigilante’ to avoid any confusion with Warners’ famous character,” Boll told Variety. Riggghtttt. It seems like they basically told them to cut it out and change the name.
Hammer’s career came to a halt in 2021 after allegations of sexual misconduct, which ended with no actual charges being filed by LA prosecutors. Now, according to Hammer, the phones are ringing off the hook. We won’t get into that but we will get more into this not-Batman movie. Hammer will play Sanders, a man who takes crimefighting into his own hands. He becomes a hit on social media but the police chief thinks he is annoying and wants to take him down. We wonder if Sanders has a mom named Martha or not…
For now, there’s no word on the release date for Citizen Vigilante, formerly known as The Dark Knight, starring Armie Hammer as not-Batman.
