While some folks might have only recently learned about Archie Andrews thanks to the hit TV series Riverdale, comic’s most beloved ginger (sorry, Jimmy Olsen) has been around for over 75 years. Who would have guessed with those abs, right? And now, Archie is about to hit another major milestone with Archie #700 this November. To celebrate, the Archie Comics title will have a new creative team, with writer Nick Spencer (The Amazing Spider-Man) and artist Marguerite Sauvage (DC’s Bombshells), and we have an exclusive look at some interior pages from the featuring Josie and the Pussycats. Check ’em out:You might be asking yourself how Archie got to 700 issues when its last issue was #32. Here’s how the math works: the original Archie series ended in June of 2015 with issue #666, then the recently ended Mark Waid and Fiona Staples reboot comic started over with a new Archie #1. All of those issues, plus a special re-cap issue Archie #699, and voila, you’ve got yourselves 700 issues of Archie, Jughead, Josie and the Pussycats, and the rest of the Riverdale crew. And for all you fans out there who have been following Archie and the gang since the 2015 reboot, worry not. Although they are returning to the legacy numbering, the continuity will remain from the most recent version. Sauvage told Nerdist, “This issue is the perfect first episode, with all the story elements that engage you in mysteries. There’s continuity with the prior arc; summer vacation is over, when lots of things had happened, and there are some revelations as we follow the characters in their new adventure with new elements. For one, we formally introduce Sabrina to the Riverdale gang!”It’s the Riverdale and Sabrina crossover we’ve been waiting for!Spencer added, “Writing Archie is a dream come true for me. I have so much love for these iconic characters, and getting the opportunity to add to their legacy here is a real thrill. I’m having a blast so far! We’re going to work very hard to surprise you here. There are a lot of twists and turns to the story we’re telling. There’s a mystery at the core that just keeps getting bigger and bigger.â€Archie #700 hits comic book shops everywhere on November 21, 2018.
