A MINECRAFT MOVIE 2 Officially Titled A MINECRAFT MOVIE SQUARED

A Minecraft Movie pulled in just shy of one billion dollars at the global box office in 2205. That’s a whole lot of minecoins. That was also a de facto guarantee we’d eventually get a sequel. Now Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that’s exactly what it has planned for the summer of 2027. That’s when the studio will look to build its bank account back up with a return to its new cinematic sandbox. And this sequel movie has a title. A Minecraft Movie 2 will officially be called A Minecraft Movie Squared.

Make sure your favorite Chicken Jockey is sitting down when they hear this news. (You might even want to tie them down.) Warner Bros. has set a July 23, 2027 release date for A Minecraft Movie 2/A Minecraft Movie Squared. We don’t exactly know how “squared” will play into things yet, but we guess it means that this upcoming Minecraft movie is EVEN bigger than a sequel.

A Minecraft Movie, which starred Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, and Jennifer Coolidge, was a huge hit for Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment. Anytime you’re within screaming distance of a billion dollar return (so far it’s just above $950 million at the global box office), you’ve got a money maker on your hands. It also helps when you have huge names attached to your potential franchise. And while there are no details about the film just yet aside from its title and the potential casting of Kristen Dunst, we’d expect the original movie’s biggest stars to return.

As for what story A Minecraft Movie 2/ might tell the possibilities are literally endless. That’s always been what makes Minecraft such a great game. It’s a celebration of imagination, where your own limits are your own creativity. That was also a major theme of the film, and one we expect to continue in its sequel. And until 2027 we’ll be using our own imaginations to guess what will happen next.
