THE WALKING DEAD: DARYL DIXON Gives Caryl Fans Exactly What They’ve Wanted

Spoiler Alert

Imagine losing your best friend in the apocalypse after you’ve been connected for years. Now imagine that friend is all the way in Paris, France and you’re in the United States. What are the chances of you two finding each other again? Slim to none, I’d say. But pretty much anything is possible in the world of The Walking Dead because Carol and Daryl had an emotional reunion in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – “The Book of Carol” episode four. Carol did what should be impossible and found Daryl. Here’s what went down.

At the end of the previous episode, Carol was in line to become an Amper, the suped up walkers that Genet wants to use and control as soldiers. But she is able to play dead and escape this situation on an ATV with Codron in tow. She heads to the Nest, where Codron kills poor Isabelle but not before she can lead Carol right to where Daryl is being held captive. (Now they know they really didn’t have to kill that lady but, as it usually goes in this universe, the spare people die so the mains can traverse forward.) They have a warm embrace and I love it whenever they show each other tenderness and affection.

But, to be frank, the Carol and Daryl reunion is rather anticlimactic and doesn’t feel earned at all. Carol got to Daryl far too easily considering the circumstances. Now that the show has gotten Isabelle out of the way (we all saw that death coming, right?), Carol joins Daryl to protect Laurent as they escape. Genet takes the Nest down and eventually Carol kills Genet with that awful virus.

Now, they are on the run as Losang takes over as the Pouvoir’s new de facto leader. I tell ya what, I don’t love any of this but surely a lot of fans are glad that Carol and Daryl are together. We guess Ash is just hanging out like an idiot waiting for Carol… or to die. Maybe we will see him again in episode five.
