One of the most mysterious and intriguing upcoming movies is undoubtedly Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis. The Adam Driver led movie sets up a trip of futuristic trip full of greed, warfare, and other things in a world that’s not like ours. The trailer for Megalopolis shows Coppola (and the film’s marketing team) striking back at past critics who dissed his previous films, instead saying that he is always on the wave of the future. And honestly, he isn’t wrong… and this trailer is absolutely fantastic.
Here’s a synopsis for Megalopolis to accompany its trailer:
Megalopolis is a Roman Epic set in an imagined Modern America. The City of New Rome must change, causing conflict between Cesar Catilina (Adam Driver), a genius artist who seeks to leap into a utopian, idealistic future, and his opposition, Mayor Franklyn Cicero (Giancarlo Esposito), who remains committed to a regressive status quo, perpetuating greed, special interests, and partisan warfare. Torn between them is socialite Julia Cicero (Nathalie Emmanuel), the mayor’s daughter, whose love for Cesar has divided her loyalties, forcing her to discover what she truly believes humanity deserves.
Ahhh yes. We finally have some more context to what’s going on here and it seems like a total vibe. The film’s poster is rather simple with Cesar standing with a golden hammer-like object and a caption that suggests he will rebuild the world for a better future.
What Is the Release Date of Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis?
