FANTASTIC FOUR Reportedly Casts Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced a Fantastic Four movie at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. Then at the same convention in 2022, Feige announced a release date and that the movie about the quartet would kick off Phase Six. We recently learned the film is being pushed to May 2, 2025—that was after hearing director Matt Shakman say the film will shoot in London in 2024. Shakman said he would be announcing casting soon once the SAG-AFTRA strike ended. Now that strike is over, and rumors point to Pedro Pascal playing Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mister Fantastic.

Daniel Richtman shared the report, and /Film confirmed with sources that Pascal is taking the role. Deadline, however, reports it’s still in negotiations. With Pascal’s very full schedule, it’s hard to imagine adding the superhero flick. Marvel movies aren’t exactly chill, and Reed would be a leading role. Pascal has the Gladiator sequel, The Last of Us, and The Mandalorian (though he’s largely been doing voice-over only for that role). Marvel hasn’t said anything yet, but here’s hoping they’ll tell us about Pascal as Reed and fill us in on casting for Sue, Johnny, and Ben. The Fantastic Four is Marvel’s first family and expectations for their arrival in the MCU are high.

We love the idea of Pascal as Reed. He could bring exactly the right kindness and sharpness for Reed. We know Pascal has the reluctant dad bit down, and Reed is that type of figure for the Fantastic Four.

Regardless of whether this report ends up being true: Pedro, bud, we hope you’re taking care of yourself and staying hydrated. Drink an extra glass of water for us, okay?
