It has been a long wait for the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Considered by some to be the best video game, perhaps, ever, Breath of the Wild holds an almost legendary position in the gaming world. Even the most casual gamers know of Breath of the Wild. So when Nintendo announced Breath of the Wild 2, there was understandably a huge response. But unfortunately, the game faced delays and moved its initial release date estimates from late 2022 to spring 2023. But now Zelda fans can rejoice once more. Because Breath of the Wild 2 has set its official release date, and it also has a brand new name, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Okay, so The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom doesn’t actually seem like a joyous title. But we certainly feel happy to know the title and the release date for this Breath of the Wild sequel. Breath of the Wild 2, a.k.a. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, will release on May 12, 2023. That’s not so bad, is it?
The release date announcement for Tears of the Kingdom doesn’t showcase too much new footage. But we’re sure we’ll get a fuller trailer very soon. What we do get to see consists largely of ominous carvings on ancient walls. Could that be history we’re looking at? Or maybe it’s prophecy? Only time will tell for sure. Past teases for Breath of the Wild 2 seem to warn of some kind of evil creeping in. But, of course, that’s par for the course. We can’t spend all our time marveling at the scenic open world.
As ponder this and more, at the very least, we can officially start the countdown to this amazing sequel. We can’t wait for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom‘s release date to finally arrive.
