With The Batman soon upon us, now is a good time for DC Comics to remind everyone of this fact. There ain’t no Bat-movies without the Bat-comics. And if you really want to dig into the source material for Matt Reeves’ film, then you’ve got to read some of the best Batman comics for context. In honor of Bruce Wayne’s return to the spotlight, the DC Universe Infinite service has added some seminal titles. They all feature the Dark Knight and his allies and are available for fans to read for free. And these are some biggies in Batman lore.
Fans can register now for free for DC Universe Infinite, and enjoy free to read comics before deciding to subscribe. For the month of March, in honor of the Caped Crusader’s grand return to cinemas, users will have the option of a free read version of Batman: Ego and Other Tails, Batman #404 (“Batman: Year One Part 1”), and Batman: The Long Halloween #1.
All of these issues have been digitally restored. Each of these comics served as a huge inspiration for director Matt Reeves when crafting The Batman. And frankly, at least two of them were also key components in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy as well. Decades later, these remain some of the greatest Batman comics ever written.
A metric ton of other, more recent Batman comics are now available as well on DC Universe Infinite, including recent issues of Batman: White Knight Presents, Batman: Reptilian, and Batman ’89. This in addition to the regular ongoing titles like Detective Comics, Nightwing, and The Batman and Scooby-Doo Mysteries. You didn’t think we’d forget that one, did you? We have nothing but respect for the Mystery Inc. crew here. You can check out the complete list of comics coming to DC Universe Infinite by clicking here.
