Live-Action HALO Series Teaser Shows Master Chief Suiting Up

Hello, Halo! Paramount+‘s live-action adaptation of the popular video game has its first teaser today. It doesn’t reveal much about the show or the story. But this glimpse of Master Chief is more than enough to get fans of the franchise ready to hit play.

Paramount+ shared its Halo series teaser during Xbox’s 20th anniversary celebration. The event was a fitting choice to debut the clip. The series premiered its first game for the console in 2001. The promo features flashes of star Pablo Schreiber (American Gods) suiting up as Master Chief. Spartan-117 will need his armor for more than covering up his scars though. He’s “Earth’s most advanced warrior” and its “only hope of salvation.”

Here’s the show’s official synopsis:

“Dramatizing an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant, HALO the series will weave deeply drawn personal stories with action, adventure and a richly imagined vision of the future.”

The show also stars Natascha McElhone (Californication) as Dr. Halsey. She’s “the brilliant, conflicted and inscrutable creator” of the Spartan super soldiers. Jen Taylor (Halo game series, RWBY) plays Cortana, mankind’s “most advanced AI” ever.  Cortana is also “potentially the key to the survival” of humanity. Joining them are Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo), Shabana Azmi (Fire), Natasha Culzac (The Witcher), Olive Gray (Half Moon Investigations), Yerin Ha (Reef Break), Bentley Kalu (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Kate Kennedy (Catastrophe), Charlie Murphy (Peaky Blinders), and Danny Sapani (Penny Dreadful).

Produced by Showtime, Halo will launch on Paramount+ in the U.S. and all international markets that carry the streaming service sometime in 2022. With more than 82 million copies sold and $6 billion in sales worldwide, the show comes with the potential for a massive built-in audience. In fact, Halo might not even need another teaser or trailer. For many, merely seeing Master Chief suit up is enough to plug in.
