If you’re someone who enjoys being outside and taking in the wonders of mother nature, we know our current Coronavirus quarantine is especially hard on you. But there is at least one great way to experience one of the great wonders of the natural world from the comfort of your own home, with live nature cams from the EXPLORE Live YouTube channel.
From the depths of the ocean to the adorableness of their kitten rescue cam, there’s pretty much something for everybody on this channel. And now, you can add one of nature’s most incredible spectacles to that list—the Aurora Borealis.
According to a report coming from the good folks over at Laughing Squid, EXPLORE.org has found a way to bring nature lovers the Northern Lights with their Aurora Borealis nightly live stream. The camera that captures all of this natural spectacle is located under the aurora belt at the Churchill Northern Studies Center in Canadian town of Churchill, Manitoba. Below is the Center’s official description for their spectacular live cam show:
“Welcome to nature’s most amazing light show. Located at the Churchill Northern Studies Center in Churchill, Manitoba, this live cam is located directly underneath the aurora oval–one of the best places on earth to watch the aurora borealis, the spectacular atmospheric phenomenon better known as the Northern Lights!”
Some of the more spectacular views from the live cam have already been posted to their Instagram account, and they are true a wonder to behold. Of course, it’s not really the same as being there. But at least for right now, it’s the best that we’ve got. Not only that, but it’s also a stark reminder not to leave nature’s wonders unexplored during the times when we actually can go outside and explore freely.
