The Saturn Awards Will Stream On Nerdist This Friday

Awards season is a big deal for film and television fans around the world, a chance to watch our favorite stars get gussied up and see our favorite works of art get celebrated. But awards shows can sometimes feel exclusionary for fans of genre, when things with a nerdy slant get edged out of the competition for more traditionally prestige stuff. That’s why we’re big fans of the Saturn Awards, the annual awards program presented by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films to honor all things genre, including film and TV. This year, to celebrate 45 years of success, the Saturn Awards are getting a bit of a makeover, with a new logo and another bit of exciting news: For the first time ever, the awards program will livestream globally and right here on Nerdist!

The Saturn Awards ceremony will take place on September 13 at the Avalon Hollywood in Hollywood, California. The live stream will begin at 6 p.m. PST at the link below.

That means you’ll be able to watch the awards conveniently from your home needing only an internet connection. And why wouldn’t you want to watch? The awards show draws incredible talent, which has, in the past, included the likes of James Cameron, Steve Spielberg, J.J. Abrams, and more huge names in entertainment. This year’s nominees, announced back in July, include films like Avengers: Endgame, Captain Marvel, Shazam!, Aquaman, Hereditary, and Toy Story 4, and TV programs like Game of Thrones, Westworld, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and The Good Place. You can see the full list of nominees on the Saturn Awards website here.

And check out the new logo, the first new design in 45 years!
