‘The Beauty of Horror: Christmas Clay-Massacre’ Spares No Holiday Heroes (Exclusive Clip)

Over the past few years, we’ve told you about the gorgeously illustrated The Beauty of Horror: A GOREgeous Coloring Book and its sequel, The Beauty of Horror 2: Ghouliana’s Creepatorium. Both of them were created by musician and comic book creator Alan Robert. Now, to celebrate the latest chapter in the continuing adventures of Ghouliana with The Beauty of Horror: Ghosts of Christmas Coloring Book from IDW, Robert has teamed up with visionary animator Trent Shy to produce a must-see, clay animation massacre set at the North Pole and inspired by the latest coloring book.[brightcove video_id=”5843565897001″ brightcove_account_id=”3653334524001″ brightcove_player_id=”rJs2ZD8x”]This gory stop-motion clip follows the undead Ghouliana as she unleashes her wrath on the holiday season’s most beloved characters. No one is safe: not Santa, nor Rudolph, Frosty, or even the Elf on the Shelf; none escape from Ghouliana’s night of terror. In a statement, Alan Robert said of the stop-motion massacre “There’s something devilishly fun about completely destroying the old stop-motion Holiday specials we all grew up on. And I can tell you this… no one makes it out alive! Especially poor Rudolph!”On the topic of his collaboration with Trent Shy, Robert said “When we were first discussing the project, we spent many nights laughing about the endless ways we were gonna torture Santa’s reindeer and destroy his workshop. Our motto was, the bloodier the better. Trent’s ability to take my 2D drawings and adapt them into the 3D space is truly mind-blowing. He really put his own creative stamp on it and created something visually stunning. It’s like an R-rated homage to The Nightmare Before Christmas.”“This was the most fun I’ve ever had with one of our claymations” added Trent Shy. “Alan and I had a blast bouncing disturbing ideas off of each other. I love The Beauty of Horror books and loved his vision for this film so much that it really made this a passion project for me. Stop motion animation can be very frustrating and time consuming, so I think it was that passion that got me through and made the film what it is.â€Creator Alan Robert will be signing at NYCC at the IDW Publishing booth, #1844, on Friday Oct 5th at 12pm ET.
