When the Kylo Ren Challenge Goes Too Far

We’re all guilty of taking our fandoms a bit too far. Nerdist’s own associate editor Kyle Anderson spent four years in graduate school achieving a doctorate in Whovianism. Hocus Pocus superfan, our editor-in-chief Rachel Heine, moved with her two sisters to Salem, Massachusetts to star their own musically inclined coven. Managing editor Alicia Lutes eve underwent a highly experimental cloning procedure due solely to her love for Orphan Black. But nobody takes fandom quite as far as Dan Casey and Kyle Hill, who face off to determine who between them is the truer Kylo Ren devotee in our latest Nerdist Presents.

Senior editor and The Dan Cave host Dan Casey might be willing to permanently scar his face to better resemble his Dark Side-skewing idol, but Science editor and Because Science host Kyle Hill does him one better with some scalp-damaging Ben Solo hair plugs. Of course, there can be only one Knight of Ren… at least in this mythos. (We’re pretty sure there are a whole bunch out there in the Star Wars universe, actually.) So who will hold that honor when all is said and done? And who will suffer in the process?

Of course, Nerdist Presents’ latest fit of lunacy wouldn’t be possible without a few likewise passionate fans out there on the Internet. Ever since Star Wars: The Last Jedi hit theaters, viewers have taken to Instagram to showcase their take on the “Kylo Ren Challenge.” Hopefully none of them take it quite as far as Dan and Kyle, though.

More Star Wars silliness!
