Twin Peaks has now returned to the airwaves, which means someway, somehow, the show’s sinister villain, the demonic entity known as Killer BOB (yes, it’s spelled with all caps) will be back as well. How this return is going to happen remains a bit of a mystery still, as the actor who portrayed BOB, Frank Silva, sadly passed away in 1995.
So will BOB be a recast? Will BOB change form? It remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure–Silva’s terrifying onscreen presence will be hard to match. Considering that Frank Silva wasn’t even an actor, but a set dresser than David Lynch cast as the killer based very much on a whim, he certainly gave a terrifying performance for the ages, and one where he spoke very little.
Now a YouTube user named thatmattcaronguy has done what is both the most unlikely mash-up and also the biggest no-brainer mash-up of all time, as they’ve taken footage of Silva from Twin Peaks and fused it with the 1991 Frank Oz directed comedy What About Bob? for What About Killer BOB?
For those of you that haven’t seen this underrated classic, Bill Murray plays a psychiatric patient named Bob Wiley who follows his doctor, played by Richard Dreyfuss, on vacation with his family. When the mentally unstable Bob befriends the other members of Dreyfuss’ family, it pushes the doctor over the edge. You can check out the mash-up trailer down below:
Bill Murray’s character of Bob Wiley might have been annoying, but it is fair to say that most of us would take him over the other BOB any old day.
What did you think of this latest mash-up trailer? Are you like me, where you freak out at the sight of Killer BOB even in a parody context? Let us know your thoughts down below.
