THE LAST OF US Season 2 Trailer Shows That Choices Have Terrifying Consequences

“You can’t stop this.” Those four words are the ominous logline for HBO’s latest The Last of Us season two trailer. Yet somehow they aren’t even this promo’s most frightening words. The trailer is full of terrifying teases about what awaits Joel, Ellie, and every other human trying to survive a world full of “monsters.” Because reading “every path has a price” should send shivers down your spine.

Violence and terror reign supreme in the latest look at what awaits when HBO’s critically-acclaimed adaptation returns. This trailer is full of Easter eggs for fans of The Last of Us Part II . But whether you’re familiar with the events of that video game or not, this trailer is enough to have anyone worried. It hints at the fallout that is coming for both Joel and Ellie following the end of season one, when he denined mankind a cure to save her life. He also lied to her about what he’d done and why, but like an army of clickers the truth is coming.

HBO’s The Last of US comes from co-creators, writers, and executive producers Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. It stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as the duo at the heart of the story. Gabriel Luna, who plays Joel’s younger brother, Tommy, and Rutina Wesley, who plays Tommy’s wife Maria, are lso returning in season two. Kaitlyn Dever is joining them as Abby Anderson, a major figure from the second game. Isabela Merced will also stars as Dina. Other newcomers include Young Mazino, Danny Ramirez, Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Spencer Lord, Joe Pantoliano, Alanna Ubach, Ben Ahlers, Hettienne Park, Robert John Burke, Noah Lamanna, Catherine O’Hara, and Jeffrey Wright.

The show begins its latest monster invasion when season two premieres on HBO Sunday, April 13. We’ll be there. “You can’t stop this.” And you can’t stop us from watching.
