Disney’s Moana 2 cleaned up at the box office over the holidays, reconnecting kids (and adults) with their favorite Polynesian Disney Princess. It became the fourth billion-dollar grossing Walt Disney Animation Studios project, joining Zootopia, Frozen, and Frozen II. Now, the megahit film is coming to home viewing. Moana 2 is now available on digital, and will arrive on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on March 18.
Among the many Moana 2 special features are several deleted scenes that didn’t make it to the final cut. One of those deleted scenes is titled “Late to the Party.” It showcases Maui arriving on Motunui to join Moana on her new adventure, but missing her by a hair. Other Moana 2 deleted scenes included are “Crew’s In for a Bruisin,” “Help Wanted,” “Odd Birds,” “Reunited,” and “Simea’s Chant.” You can watch an exclusive clip of “Late to the Party” above.
Here’s the official synopsis from Walt Disney Animation Studios for Moana 2:
Moana 2 reunites Moana and Maui, played by Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson, respectively, three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.
Other special features on the Moana 2 disc include a Full Length Sing-Along, and meeting some real-life navigators from the Polynesian Voyaging Society in “Call of the Wayfinder.” There’s also a deep dive with the filmmakers taking charge of Moana’s continuing story in “A New Voyage.” And we get an exploration of the new music in the film with “Songs of the Sea.” In “The Kakamora Chronicles,” Moni, the Motunui historian, tells stories and legends of real Solomon Island folklore. This feature details the myths surrounding the mysterious beings called the Kakamora.
You can now own Moana 2 on digital, with the DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray arriving on March 18.
