LORD OF THE RINGS Animated Short Captures FOTR In Under 3 Minutes

If there’s one thing The Lord of the Rings movies have a reputation for, it’s their length. Having an LOTR movie marathon is a fabled quest, one that may take longer than the journey to Mordor itself. Especially if you’re having an LOTR extended edition movie marathon plus bonus features. But a spectacular Lord of the Rings animated short reminds us that some stories are so good, that they can get shrunk down and still hold up. Though we wouldn’t mind seeing this Lord of the Rings animated adventure as a full movie (or three.)

Creator Eddie Sharam shares:

I’ve always loved The Lord of the Rings, so made this animated film trailer of my interpretation of The Fellowship of the Ring. Here’s Frodo, Gandalf, Aragorn, Boromir, Legolas, Gimli, Sam, Merry and Pippin in the first part of the epic story that will change all their lives. Tolkien’s work is so great, it’s daunting to adapt!

Tokien’s work definitely is great, but so is Sharam’s. We first saw this animated LOTR short on /Film. And it takes us through all the major hits of Fellowship of the Ring. We get the joy of the Shire, the creeping fear the Nazgûl bring, Aragorn and Arwen’s romance, and everything else we remember fondly from the first movie/book of the series.

The animation style also feels very fresh. It reminds us of a few different things but comes together to create something all its own. Honestly, sign us up for a whole Lord of the Rings animated series and put Sharam at the head. The clear love of Tolkien’s work leaps off the screen. And that’s how you know something is worth watching.

In the meanwhile, fans can eagerly anticipate a Lord of the Rings anime movie. Although this anime will not retell the story of Frodo and company. Instead, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim will explore “the untold story behind the fortress of Helm’s Deep.” And, of course, Amazon’s new LOTR series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, will arrive before we know it.

Between fan-made treasures and official outings, it’s a great time to be a Lord of the Rings fan.
