The Best Cosplay from D23 Expo 2017

The Best Cosplay from D23 Expo 2017

If you want to see more Disney costumes than you can count, you need only attend D23 Expo for a day. Fans dress as characters and objects from Disney films, parks, games, and everything in between. With D23 Expo attendees walking around as popular characters from Star Wars and Marvel or deep cut references to theme park attractions and locales, you’re bound to be surprised and/or delighted.

I found myself making abrupt U-turns on the show floor to photograph ghosts from the Haunted Mansion, Te Kā from Moana, a Spider-Man and Little Mermaid mash-up (Spider-Mermaid?), and a Dole Whip, among others. Since the Dole Whip is my favorite treat–yes, it’s food–at Disneyland, let’s start there:

Look at this Mulan and Li Shang:

You know the deep cut theme park cosplay I mentioned? Taking photos against certain walls at Disney Parks is a thing on social media (seriously, search for #bluewall or #bubblegumwall and you’ll see what I mean). Two of the most popular wall spots are the blue wall at Disney California Adventure and the bubblegum wall at Epcot. These clever cosplayers dressed as those two walls:

That Spider-Mermaid I mentioned? Check out a whole new look for Ariel.

Sling a web to the gallery below to see a LEGO Jack Skellington, the Jungle Cruise’s infamous Dr. Albert Falls (complete with the back side of water), Sora and Roxas from Kingdom Hearts, and so much more.

Did you see any creative costumes at D23 Expo? Tell us about them in the comments or share links to photos.
