“Terryfold,” the breakout song from the Rick and Morty season three episode, “Rest and Ricklaxation,” has garnered a lot of praise since its foldy flaps hit our ear holes and folds of our brains. The song was an instant classic for viewers, and it even managed to debut at No. 33 on the Billboard “Hot Rock Songs” chart ahead of bands like the Foo Fighters. Now, it’s also received a pair of music videos that manage to somehow add a whole new level of weirdness, and yes, even more foldy holds.
First off, the above video is an illustrated take on the song by animator Bino. This visual representation of the lyrics has an animation style that wouldn’t look at all out of place in an actual episode of Rick and Morty. Or possibly a very psychedelic episode of Aaahh!!! Real Monsters. Needless to say, it’s a great display of really feeling, holding, and folding some flappy holdy folds.
Next up (below), is a video set to the song created by VFX house Neon Robotic. This take, unsurprisingly considering its origins, goes for a more digital rather than animated kind of weirdness with aliens(?) that look like something out of Men In Black or Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. And yet, the video still somehow makes us want to perhaps grab some foldy flap holds or maybe even take a big flap and squeeze it.
What do you think about these Rick and Morty music videos? Can you imagine a better music video interpretation that’s even more foldy? Let us know in the comments below.
