RICK AND MORTY Season 4 Starts Production

The third season of Rick and Morty premiered over a year ago, but the start of the fourth season was delayed while co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland negotiated a 70 episode renewal from Adult Swim. Now, the writers are officially back together and working on new episodes of the series.

While speaking with Polygon, Roiland confirmed the Rick and Morty writers’ room reconvened this week to begin planning the fourth season. “It’s exciting, it’s a little surreal,” said Roiland. “Even just being in the writers room for half the day every day this week, the ideas are…it’s going to be great.” Earlier this month, Harmon indicated he and Roiland pushed for the extended renewal to give themselves and their writers added job security. According to Roiland, the large episode order will also mean fans won’t have to wait as long for new seasons to arrive.

“We‘re super excited that, for the first time ever, we’re locked in, we know what the future is, we have job security,” said Roiland. “We want the episodes to stay good, but we do also want to try to turn them around a little quicker now that we have this big order, I think it gives us the ability to be faster.” Read more at  Polygon.

Rick and Morty season four doesn’t currently have a release date, but a 2019 premiere seems like the best bet.
