Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” Lyrics Are Reinterpreted in This Dramatic Short Film

Even if you can’t recite them from memory, you know the lyrics of Queen’s enduring classic “Bohemian Rhapsody.” You know, that little ditty about a poor boy, not caring about how the wind blows, mamma mia, and all that. You also probably remember that it tells a wildly dramatic tale filled with twists and turns and murder and thunderbolts and lightning. It’s a story fit for film, and that’s just what Corridor has done in a new short film that takes the theatrical lyrics literally and turns them into an action-packed short film ( via Sploid).

In their telling of events, “Bohemian Rhapsody” is a gritty crime drama about a young man who, you guessed it, shoots somebody and runs to tell his mother about it. It’s professionally shot and looks very well done, and Corridor even managed to take the most potentially ridiculous part of the song and made it kind of work; watch what they do with the repeated “Galileo.” It’s pretty clever. Is the video a bit overwrought? Absolutely. But then again, so is the original song, perhaps one of the most emotionally tumultuous tracks of all time. But even though Corridor’s treats “Bohemian Rhapsody” with respect, you can’t help laughing at some points. Not because it’s bad, but because, at some points (especially during the police encounter), their imaginative handling of the lyrics feels so far removed from its original operatic context.

Nothing really matters, but this is worth a watch, so check it out above.
