THAT ’90s SHOW Canceled at Netflix, Will Not Get Season 3

It looks like we will no longer be hanging out down the street. In a somewhat surprising move, Netflix has canceled That ’90s Show. It really felt like, though the show obviously did not have the mass following of its original version, That ’70s Show, quite a number of people enjoyed the ’90-inspired sequel. But alas, there will be no more That ’90s Show… at least, not on Netflix. Honestly, it feels like no show is safe anymore, not even IP drenched in nostalgia. If That ’90s Show is getting canceled after two seasons, what chance does any series have any more at getting a season three? This cancellation of That ’90s Show does not bode well for the future of long-running television.

That ’70s Show had eight seasons and 200 episodes. That ’90s Show was canceled by Netflix after two seasons and has 26 episodes to its name. Oof. But there’s still some hope. Though fans looking forward to season three of That ’90s Show won’t be finding it on Netflix, there might still be some hope for more of the series. That ’90s Show star Kurtwood Smith, who plays the iconic Red Forman, took to Instagram to break the news of That ’90s Show‘s cancellation, but also of its possible future.

Smith shares:

I know you have been asking me when season 3 is coming, but I have tough news…Netflix will not be renewing. I just want to take a minute to say THANK YOU to all of the fans everywhere who supported and watched the show. You have come up to me in random parts of the world when I’m traveling and reached out to me through social media and just been so wonderful. I’ve loved every minute of getting to bring Grandpa Red to life for you all. I’ve said it before but it’s worth mentioning again…this show had so much heart behind it and the most wonderful cast, writers, directors, producers and crew an actor could hope to work with. Thanks for letting Red and Kitty, their grandkid, all their grandkids friends and neighbors, the original cast members of That 70’s Show and all of our wonderful guest cast members entertain you for two seasons. To steal Red Forman’s words…we aren’t going to be dumbasses…we will shop the show, because good grandparents would try hard to get these kids graduated from high school.

Well, That ’90s Show, we’re sorry to see you fall victim to yet another two-season cancellation, but we’re crossing our fingers that you get a season three. Then we can say hello again, again, to Wisconsin!
