The quarantine has been tough on pretty much everyone with social distancing, shifted work schedules, and general concern for the well-being of others. This time has been especially difficult for parents whose kids are out of school for the foreseeable future. Thankfully, we live in a streaming world with awesome movies like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse to give kids an escape—and a lot of hope—during a confusing time. Jake Johnson, who voices Peter B. Parker, wants to take the good feelings even further by sending a special voice message to young Spidey fans.
Johnson posted a message to his Instagram followers about the details of his act of kindness. In the post, Johnson said he’s heard that a lot of kids have been watching Into the Spider-Verse while self-quarantining at home and wanted to do something nice for the young fans. He asked parents to send him an email at peterbparkersayshi@gmail.com (what a great email address) with their child’s name(s). In return, he will try to send out an encouraging voice message from Peter B. Parker.
The message also includes a still of Peter from the film as his licks his fingers and sips on a soda. It’s a sweet and thoughtful gesture that reminds us how kindness shines even brighter in uncertain times. And, honestly, we high-key wish we were kids so we can get a message from Spidey too.
He notes that he may not be able to get to every single person because of the influx of emails. This makes sense considering that there could be thousands of emails flooding in from parents who want a little But, it is still certainly worth a shot to send over a quick email. There’s nothing to lose if he cannot respond and a child’s happiness and smile to gain if Peter Parker sends them a special message.
Thanks to Jake Johnson, a lot of kids will get a chance to be uplifted by a real-life hero.
