Naturally, there are bound to be some drawbacks from using Jell-O instead of LEGO bricks. As noted by Gizmodo, very few fan builders will be able to make Jell-O bricks as perfectly shaped as their LEGO counterparts. That said, it could also open the door to even greater custom creations than before. Perhaps the Jell-O Play bricks can actually make ships that float or expand the range of available shapes. With the right tools, customizers should be able to craft their own original bricks and finish them with Jell-O play. That opens up a whole new realm of possibilities.
Of course, we need to get our hands on Jell-O Play before we can determine how well they stack up compared to LEGO bricks. And we fully expect the LEGO community of creators to favor their beloved plastic blocks. At the same time, there should be some builders who are eager to experiment with these Jell-O bricks. And it’s a pretty safe bet that kids will enjoy them as well.
