Just when you thought all of your Final Fantasy dreams were coming true with the long-awaited announcement of the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake, Square Enix are here to get you even more excited with the trailer and release date for Final Fantasy VIII Remastered.

The magical action-adventure centers on the heroic members of the Balamb Garden Military Academy’s elite team, known as SeeD, who have to fight alongside a series of allies to beat the evil sorceress Edea. Led by the cool-headed loner Squall Leonhart, the game centers on the battle against Edea after she attacks the prestigious academy and its students. The new iteration has not only upgraded the visuals to full 1920 x 1028 HD, but has also added some new features including Battle Assist mode, the ability to turn off Battle Encounters, the chance to play all scenes at 3x speed, Guardian Force, and Draw.

To celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the fan fave game, we’ll get a new HD remaster that will bring SeeD to the PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam. Though it isn’t going to be as shiny as the Final Fantasy VII full remake, the plus side of it being a simple remaster is that we don’t have to wait long to play it as the new version of the popular RPG will be released on September 3rd and is currently available for preorder in the U.S., U.K., Germany, Italy, France, and Spain.

It’ll be exciting to see how the underrated gem is received in the wake of the much-hyped FFVII remake as it has often been more of a cult entry into the franchise rather than one of the smash-hit chapters like VII. We’ll be eagerly awaiting the release in just a couple of weeks and we can’t wait for the rest of the world to fall in love with this often forgotten Final Fantasy adventure!
