Write Your Best Life with This $20,000 Rocket Pen

You read that headline right. There is a pen, it costs 20 grand, and it’s basically all that is gonna salvage this garbage fire of a year for all of us.

Okay, I can already hear you tutting and pearl-clutching. “$20,000 for a single pen?” But hear me out. Sit down a sec. Get comfy. Close your eyes. I want you to imagine that you’re at your home and the inspiration to write overwhelms you. Whether they take form in a poem, the idea behind a novel, or even just a shopping list, you can feel it—these words you will write are different. This new literary masterpiece or note-to-self to buy eggs will have purpose, clout, and dignity. You look around for some sort of writing implement, and you realize all you can find is a broken pencil and a pen with a cap that has been chewed on (which is worrisome since you’re pretty sure you don’t chew on pen caps).

Friends. There is a better way.

That way, friends, is the Astrograph. It is, essentially, the Tony Stark of pens. Yes, it’ll set you back $20,000, but you’ll plunge into financial ruin with a hell of a flourish. Like fine wine, this pen took several years to get just right, and is modeled after the rocket used on the moon landing. The Astrograph is the result of a collaboration between MB&F and Swiss pen makers (because that’s a real job you can have, apparently) Caran d’Ache, and it’s pretty impressive:

Yes. That is a tiny, rhodium astronaut standing next to the pen. Because nothing says class like a tiny, shiny astronaut. Just ask any winner of a Moonman from the VMAs.

Gizmodo first reported on the story, and while they’re trying hard to justify the steep price tag, I’m gonna tell you to just treat yo’ self and buy the pen. Letter-writing and the traditional written word is only a dying art if you let it die, right? So whether you prefer a fountain pen or a ball-point, this expertly-crafted writing tool is there to support you. Of course, if you’re going to opt out of buying that car and opt into purchasing the best in modern calligraphy, you’re gonna wanna display that shit, right? Naturally, this pen comes with a killer, space-themed display stand that also sort of looks like a tiny launching pad, and it’s classy AF.

So go, dear readers. Unabashedly drop the money you could have spent on a car, rent for well over a year, or anything else, and launch into writing excellence. Just keep it away from that mysterious pen cap chewer.

What do you think of the Astrograph? What crazy thing would you drop 20k for? Tell us in the comments!
