Mondo Has Beautiful Universal Monsters Prints for Sale

It’s looking less and less likely that we’ll ever get a proper series of connected films in the Universal Monsters series—at least not for a while, following the poor showing of last year’s The Mummy. But even if we never get another outing for any of the creatures, we can at least rest assured that the original Universal Monsters remain truly universal. After nearly 90 years since the first batch—Tod Browning’s Dracula and James Whale’s Frankenstein both came out in 1931—the original titans of horror are the subject of a beautiful new series of prints from Mondo, available on January 25 at a random time.

Following their successful premiere at the Mondo Gallery in Austin, several specially made pieces, created by a bevy of wonderful artists and bearing a variety of styles, will be available to buy. It’s amazing to me that all of these prints can be so different and yet still capture the timelessness of these Gothic monsters. Dracula gets the most representation with three separate pieces, followed by Frankenstein with two. We also get two different variants of The Creature from the Black Lagoon and haunting pieces for both The Bride of Frankenstein and The Wolf Man. (If you’re wondering, The Mummy is not represented…sorry, Karl Freund fans, though it should be noted this is listed on Mondo’s site as Part 1, so maybe you’ll get your Karloff in rags yet!)

As with all of Mondo’s online ventures, sales will begin suddenly and the products will go fast, so definitely watch the company’s social media like a hawk. For a closer look at some of our favorite of these prints, look below!
