TV-CAP: The First PREACHER Trailer, Rupert Grint’s Comic Book Inspired TV Show, and More!

Happy Monday, and welcome back to TV-Cap! To kickstart your week of television enjoyment, we’re looking at the very first trailer from AMC’s Preacher, Rupert Grint’s new TV pilot, the renewal of The Walking Dead, the debut of Dr. Hugo Strange in Gotham, a very familiar face coming to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and a premiere date for Hulu’s 11.22.63!

Son of a Preacher Man. AMC has released the first trailer for the adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s cult classic comic book series, Preacher…and it holds back on the show’s central premise. If this was the first exposure to Preacher for millions of potential fans, then they have no idea about the supernatural and religious craziness that’s coming their way in 2016.

But the trailer does offer a good spotlight for Dominic Cooper’s leading character, Jesse Custer. Suffice it to say, he is a small town preacher who is not to be trifled with. [Nerdist]

10 Points for Gryffindor! In 2013, former Harry Potter star Rupert Grint headlined CBS’ comic book-inspired pilot Super Clyde, but it wasn’t ordered to series. Now Grint has signed on for NBC’s Imperial City, another comic book-inspired TV pilot. Created by Silvio Horta (Ugly Betty), Imperial City casts Grint as the son of the man who created a popular comic called Imperial City as he comes to realize that the city and its inhabitants are very real. The Walking Dead

The Dead Just Keep on Walkin’. To the surprise of absolutely no one, AMC has ordered a seventh season of The Walking Dead, and a sixth season of Chris Hardwick’s Talking Dead. Between the 16 episode seventh season and 15 episodes of Fear The Walking Dead season two, AMC has a new episode of its flagship franchise scheduled for 31 weeks in 2016. [Nerdist]

Gotham

BD Wong Corners The Market on Mad Scientists. Continuing the march of Batman-related villains coming to Gotham season two, Jurassic World co-star BD Wong has joined the cast as Dr. Hugo Strange, one of Batman’s most cerebral villains. In Gotham, Hugo Strange is the man behind the horrific experiments at Indian Hill, the facility glimpsed in the most recent episode when the female Firefly, Bridgit Pike (Michelle Veintimilla) was sent there after her capture. Powers Boothe Returns to The Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the newest preview clip from Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., veteran actor Powers Boothe appears as Gideon Malick, a major player among the old guard of Hydra. Considering that Boothe previously played one of the members of the World Security Council in The Avengers, he may be reprising his role from that movie. If so, we’re all for it! [Nerdist]

All Roads Lead To Dallas. Hulu has set a February 15, 2016 debut for 11.22.63, the ambitious nine-part adaptation of Stephen King’s 2011 novel. James Franco stars as Jake Epping, a man who is on a mission to the past to prevent the assassination of JFK at the hands of Lee Harvey Oswald. And yes, February 15 is Presidents Day, which makes that a particularly fitting premiere date. [Nerdist]
