TITUS AND DRONICUS Bring Shakespeare Back To Life

If you’re looking for a fun way to pass the weekend and you happen to be a fan of the Bard, Titus and Dronicus is for you. A new mystery web series written and produced Megan Kelly, Madhuri Shekar and Seamus Sullivan, and directed by Liz Rizzo. It was made through Better Than Shakespeare, the Los Angeles consortium founded by Kelly and Kate Grabau. Since their successful Hollywood Fringe Festival showing of Much Ado About Something a few years ago, they’ve been working to bring Shakespeare back to the people with their new sleuth-based web series.

This first season of Titus and Dronicus features the adventures of the two title characters as well as a number of characters from Hamlet. A dame by the name of Ophelia wants help solving the murder of her boyfriend’s father. Hamlet is a withdrawn, workaholic writerly type in Hollywood, and his father was the reigning most powerful producer. The young man spends a lot of time talking to himself and worrying his girlfriend who almost never sees him. Titus and her best friend Dronicus eagerly take the case.

The show’s titular characters are pretty great. Titus is a frustrated lady in a man’s world just trying to solve mysteries – a passion from an early age – and establish her own detective agency. She’s joined by her best friend who really just wants to help people in the way that all the best people want to do a little good in the world. You’re definitely going to want to tune into see their adventures.

This first season is just 3 episodes long, but you’re going to love the excitement of a modern take on Shakespeare’s most famous works. I’m already hoping they tackle some lovelorn teens in their next season! Tell us what you think of episode one in the comments below!
