Thor and Loki Play a Practical Joke in THOR: RAGNAROK Preview

Through the first two Thor films, Chris Hemsworth‘s God of Thunder kept trying to find some measure of redemption for his step-brother, Loki (Tom Hiddleston). But in the newest preview scene from Thor: Ragnarok, we get a glimpse of the brothers’ new dynamic as Thor seems willing to simply write off their relationship for good. And that’s something that Loki appears to be upset about.

What’s really striking in that scene is how matter-of-fact Thor is about the state of their brotherly bond, and how that very obviously makes Loki unhappy. Loki can’t even bring himself to smile when he suggests that they’ll never see each other again. Director Taika Waititi has previously mentioned that Thor has become indifferent towards his brother, and we’re seeing that play out in the clip. Somehow, we think that Loki would prefer to be hated, if only to evoke more of an emotional response from Thor.

Judging from the background and the state of Thor’s outfit, this scene appears to take place late in the film after Thor and Loki return to Asgard. It’s also apparent that Thor and Loki have used the “get help!” deception more than once, and it really is hilarious to see Loki humiliated once again. But as we’ve seen in other clips, there will be moments when their team up is on more equal footing.

Thor: Ragnarok will hit movie theaters on Friday, November 3.
