This Week at NerdMelt Theater!

So much fun this week! We’ve got standup, improv, magic, and movies!

Tonight at 8pm, it’s The Business!

It’s The Business, and Business is booming. This popular San Francisco stand up collective comes to L.A. bringing a unique blend of stand up, story telling, and song. Material stretches and develops organically as the performers interrupt and improvise with performers ranging from comedians to authors, dancers to sandwich artists. The Business is run by Sean Keane, Chris Garcia, Bucky Sinister, and Alex Koll, and their guests include Kyle Kinane and Louis Katz.

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Saturday at 8pm, it’s The Indoor Kids LIVE!

We had so much fun at the first one that we’re doing it again! Join Kumail Nanjiani and Emily Gordon as they host some of their favorite video game fans for another live Indoor Kids podcast! Plus, we’ve got Blair Herter and DC Pierson! We’ll have fun stories, new game talk, weirdo competitions, old game talk, chances to weigh in on the discussion, and more! If you’ve ever yelled at your computer/IPod while listening to the show, wishing you could contribute, now’s your chance!

$8 in advance, $10 at the door

Sunday at 5pm, it’s the Nerdist Writers Panel!

Spend your Sunday afternoons learning from the best at the Nerdist Writers Panel! Join moderator Ben Blacker as he hosts esteemed panelists discussing topics like different types of writing, how they got started, what inspires them, the business side of writing, and more. Panelists will also answer your questions and give some helpful tips and tricks! This series is a must for any hopeful writer in LA, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit 826LA.
Scheduled to appear: Maurissa Tancharoen & Jed Whedon (Spartacus; Dr. Horrible; Dollhouse) and Tami Sagher (How I Met Your Mother; 30 Rock; Psych)

Then stick around Sunday at 7pm for Matt Mira’s Day Off!

Matt Mira of the Nerdist Podcast needs a Day Off, so we decided to give him Sundays at Nerdist Theater. Come watch Mira and Paul Cibis host this comedy free-for-all. You’ll see brand new comics, comics you know and love trying out new material (Chris Hardwick and Kumail Nanjiani are frequent drop ins), and the magic that is live comedy.

Monday at 8pm, it’s MeltProv!

The MeltProv show is a fast paced improv show from some of Los Angeles’ best improvisers, dare we say, some of the world’s best. From improvised comic books to rock operas to freestyle rap battles to classic improv games like Forward/Reverse. The MeltProv show is jam packed with comedy, music and your suggestions. Think Whose Line Is It Anyway…on crack, or mushrooms if crack is too hardcore for ya, or weed if you find mushrooms to be too trippy, or coffee if weed makes you… you get the idea. Come get your mind blown.

Featuring Colton Dunn, Suzi Barrett, Ryan Smith, Jim Woods, Amber Ruffin, and Scott Rodgers, with Special Guests Eric Price,  Heather Campbell, James Kirkland, and Brandon Johnson!

Join JUSTIN WILLMAN (Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars”) this Valentine’s Day as he and his friends present a cataclysmic evening of prestidigitation, make-believe, and excessive sleight-of-mouth. You’ll spend the entire time wondering “how’d they do that?” and gasping at the wonders of…. MAGIC!

February’s lineup features:  Comedian Iliza Shlesinger, crazy man Chipper Lowell, Songbird Jessie Payo, Trickster Joel Ward, and a special performance by The Blood Brothers
