The STAR WARS Ball Droid Chases Indiana Jones in New Mash-Up

The STAR WARS Ball Droid Chases Indiana Jones in New Mash-Up

It’s been a crazy last few weeks for Star Wars fans. Ever since the release of the first teaser of J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the internet’s been a whirlwind of parodies, remixes and mash-ups, and the latter of those is what we have for you today in the form of a glorious combination we simply can’t get enough of: Indiana Jones and Star Wars.

During the weekend of the teaser release, some new information was dug out revealing the origins of Abram’s ball droid (now known officially as BB-8) to possibly be linked to original R2-D2 designs, and if that’s true, it kind of makes the idea of this mash-up all the more sweeter considering this mash-up deals with Lucasfilm’s other hit franchise.

Honestly, it was only a matter of time before some genius with knowledge of After Effects got around to pulling this off. BB-8 is ripe for parody and jokes, and this is one of the best ones we could have gotten. However, what would have made it better is if the creator of this video could have also included the scene in which Indy steals the artifact, but had the artifact swapped for something else from Star Wars land, the new trisaber perhaps?

With any luck, whenever Disney gets around to making a new Indiana Jones film (which they are planning now that they own the rights to the franchise) it will be met with the same reaction as the new Star Wars film and we’ll get even more new parody and remix videos based on it. But, until then, this will do just fine.

What do you think of this Star Wars/Indiana Jones mash-up? Let us know in the comments below.

BB-8 owes more to Disney’s earlier droids B.O.B. and V.I.N.C.E.N.T. than to R2D2. Love the Indy mashup, though!
