The Indoor Kids #170: Hail to the King: A Conversation with M Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold

Today Kumail and Emily welcome Matt, aka M Shadows of the band Avenged Sevenfold, to talk about his other passion: video games. This guy is in deep. We talk about the video game industry, the music industry, and how Matt has been competitive in video games since he was a kid. Plus we talk about the game he is releasing into the world this week, Hail to the King: Deathbat, and what the process of creating a game has been like for him over the past two years. Great dude, great episode.

There’s no “bug” in Shadow of Mordor, people just don’t undertstand the system. The only way to be sure a captain is dead is to take off his head. The on the “Sauron’s Army” screen you should see a head on a stick where he used to be. Kill him any other way and you’ll see his dead body on the SA screen, but there’s a chance he may come back. When they do come back they typically reference your last fight – “You thought I was dead, didn’t you?” or something like that.

    • Illusion-XIII says:

Kumail specifically says (at 7:58) that he’s chopping the orcs’ heads off. He also said that Kotaku was in touch with Warner Brothers about this, and went back and forth with them about it.  Don’t you think that if the players simply weren’t killing the orcs properly (i.e. decapitation), Warner Brothers would have just told Kotaku that this was the intended mechanic, rather than letting them write a misleading article?

      • dys says:

They did tell the Kotaku idiot that, he even quotes them saying that in the article. But he ignores it because a bunch of idiots on reddit are totes sure they decapitated that orc.
