  1. Mccrackelz says:

Somehow, this felt like the best episode yet… I’m not sure how.

It’s almost like all the heady discussions with Bissell and crit-hulk left questions hanging in the air about the industry that this sit down seemed to answer.

There’s just something about a conversation with a affable, talented, actor who loves his job that put everything in perspective for me.

    Again, I’m not sure why…

  2. ryepunk says:

Pyramids not built by slaves. That is a horribly inaccurate myth. Rather it was the taxes that the local populace did in the off season as service to the Pharaoh. They were built around 4500 years ago, over a 10-20 year period. That’s right, the people who worked on it, saw their work finished.

  3. aly khater says:

The Pyramids weren’t built by slaves, also this episode is awesome

  4. Sol O. says:

Emily, I apologize – though I was being somewhat sincere about most of what I said, that last sentence was really meant to be sorta tongue-in-cheek – I am in no position to judge your relationship other than to say it seems like a great one to me.

And Tillburg, you’re in no position to judge me as being either an asshole or an assnugget, though the latter do sound delicious.

I love the show – you’re smart, funny people (like me!) – where I come from (Nova Scotia) gentle ribbing is a gesture of affection – I’m sorry the state of internet commenting has left you so guarded – in the future please assume I’m coming from a place of love and/or humour.

  5. Tillburg says:

C’mon Emily show the commenters some love who gave positive feedback and cool stories, not the damn assholes. Did you see that marriage song rearrangement story above from Nathan Norton? It was beautiful.

Remember: the trolls/assnuggets only know they’re hurting you if you tell them. It reinforces their behavior.

(great episode btw, fucking love Troy’s work)

  6. Emily says:

Thank you, Sol O, for having the courage to take something I said about a choice I would make in a video game, as a video game character, and using it to comment on the strength of my marriage.

  7. Sol O. says:

Awesome episode guys – the only thing I’ll comment on is when you were talking about The Last of Us and in vague reference to the ending Emily said she would never make that choice. Now, she said it rather cavalierly and it was something I thought about a lot at the time I played it, and I’m not sure how anyone who loves someone deeply (whether familial or romantically) WOULDN’T make the same choice Joel did. If you don’t love Kumail enough to sacrifice the well-being of all of humanity to save HIS life, I don’t think it’s going to work out. Just sayin.

  8. Marta says:

The Russian loop that Troy is talking about is called the Kuleshov effect, if anyone’s looking for some fun late-night Google fodder!

Also: Great episode, kids, Troy Baker is a delight.

  9. Kyle says:

Based on Hugh Jackman’s look and performance in Prisoners, I think he could make a good Joel If the The Last of Us is adapted into a movie.

  10. Kyle S. says:

Anyone who who likes Last of Us (or Uncharted or Prince of Persia) should really check out Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, which is something of a precursor. It’s a beautiful game, Andy Serkis’ voice-acting and motion capture work is spectacular, and no game has done storytelling better.

You can get it used for almost nothing now. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

  11. Kyle Jenkins says:

Great episode… just wanted to chime in with the name of the song in Red Dead: Jose Gonzalez – Far Away. Greatest song ever written for a video game in my opinion.

  12. I literally said, “Oh shit!” when I clicked on the IK page to see what you guys were up to this week and saw Troy’s pic. You blow my mind sometimes when I’m kind of expecting one of the great, regular guests, but instead see someone like this.

Can’t wait to listen. Troy is just an incredible voice actor, with so much gravitas in every performance he delivers. He’s slowly approaching Nolan North territory for my money (just personal opinion, peeps – not trollin’ here).

  13. Nathan Norton says:

Hey guys. Well, I have a new mancrush. Troy Baker is stupendous and the heart of all my favorite games of 2013…love this ep!!!

I just wanted to mention something about the “May the Circle” song from Infinite. I play music for weddings from time to time, and over the summer, I played a wedding (how fitting is this) on the top of a skyscraper in the wind. As I was practicing for the event, I was also playing through Infinite. The moment I got to the song easter egg, I laid the controller down and picked my guitar and arranged an instrumental version of Troy’s performance.

I showed it to the wedding couple and they absolutely loved it. Thanks Troy and Ken Levine for giving me something to shamelessly steal and make the music program at the wedding worth the cash they paid me.

    Again. Great episode.

  14. phil medoc says:

Great show, he seems like a nice guy. It’s always interesting when you bring in different perspectives on the game dev side of things.

I didn’t know about that F22 in GTA; I’ll have to check that out sometime.

  15. Nichole says:

You forgot putting Xs over your I s instead of dots!

  16. Scott says:

I would consider murder to have this man’s voice. Plus, he seems like such a nice and cool guy to go along with all his talent. Nice episode Intro Kids.

  17. Mucktavious says:

This guy is such an outstanding voice actor, I was trying to get my friends to understand. It’s just easier to load up his IMDB page and start asking people if they know his stuff!!!

  18. Spencer says:

I can’t download this from iTunes. My iTunes suddenly takes 2 hours to download a podcast instead of 1 minute at most. Is this happening with anyone else?
I listened to this one here and great episode too.
