Science Explains Why Your Cat Keeps Knocking Stuff Over

Science Explains Why Your Cat Keeps Knocking Stuff Over

  1. Kirk Taylor says:

Wish you guys could’ve made our panel, 60 years of Bazooka Joe, we would’ve loved for you to act out a strip for the crowd! Thanks for including us on your wish list! Hilarious!

  2. Jerry says:

You guys should do an entire podcast where Kumail just tries to finish everyone’s sentences.

  3. Alec says:

Stick of Truth looks cool, but I’m even more excited about the other game being made by Obsidian, Project Eternity.

Except that isn’t actually its name, because they haven’t officially announced one for it, yet.

  4. Pleasant Peasant says:

    ……….or was he?

Emily V is the shit by the way, microphone holding skills bedamned.

    @Emily V. Gordon
Seriously sweetie. You’re fucking awesome. Quick, warm, wise, smart, funny, sexy, the whole enchilada casserole. Your capacity to give a shit about people is amazing. You’re a goddam gem. Seriously.

It’s, perhaps, that very same capacity that leaves you vulnerable to being extraspecially bothered when confronted face-to-face with human shittiness – and you happen to spend a lot of time and energy in a forum that attracts shitty people.

The internet is an interesting social experiment in which the the antisocial asshole:rational empathetic human ratio is higher than in other areas of social gathering. (For a similar dynamic see almost any gathering of MMA enthusiasts, neo-nazis, or juggalos). The internet, much like the aforementioned forums, is a place where the social consequences for being horrible to other humans is lessened a great deal. Specifically with the internet, the following factors come into play: anonymity, the ability to communicate instantaneously, lack of personal interaction, lack of meaningful social condemnation for antisocial behavior.

I theorize that it’s not that the internet encourages people to become assholes, but rather it’s that social pressures push people who already have challenges with empathy, manners, self-control, and other attributes necessary for successful socialization into the vacuum of the internet where those pressures are almost non-existent; they’re drawn into it like Toucan Sam to a bowl of Froot Loops [sic].

It’s like the Dagobah cave. What’s in here? Only what you take with you.

So it’s not that “the internet is attacking” anyone or that “the internet hates” this or that. It’s easy to think that the world hates you based on anecdotal evidence and isolated incidents. And it’s even easier to clear that first hurdle of intellectually understanding these things and yet still be tripped up by them on an emotional level. But they’re the truth, or as near to it as I can come at this time. You just happen to be boogie boarding in a particular part of the ocean whose salinity and temperature are ideal conditions for great whites and hammerheads. You didn’t attract them, they were there already.

Then again, in your position I imagine I’d feel exactly the same way.

    Fuck everything, I guess. 😀

  5. T says:

Plaid shirt and jeans with a big axe? Probably one of the Adventure Time Marshall Lee cosplayers I spotted

  6. Pedak says:

The reason The X-Files: I Want to Believe didn’t have any Cigarette Smoking Man action was the simple fact that he was incinerated in the series finale.

  7. Post-Meister says:

Recommendation: The Youtube Video Tickle Fingers Land (it’s short and not x rated).

  8. Post-Meister says:

    I don’t know why I singled out Emily V.

  9. Post Meister says:

That might of been a headphone problem. Yeah….

  10. Post-Meister says:

Actually that didn’t sound like moving mic issues. Sorry if I was rude, seriously.

  11. Post Meister says:

learn how to hold a mic steady.

  12. Post-Meister says:

By that I mean there’s no acting. Sandman is Goth?

  13. Post Meister says: is softer than hardcore porn. Mostly it’s solo and lesbian masturbation. It’s less over-acted.

  14. phil medoc says:

@Nicole: Chromatics (Johnny Jewel, at least) were sort of commissioned to write a score but it wasn’t used. Cliff Martinez ended up with the gig.

  15. Nichole says:

    LOL @ Heath Leather

omg RL Stine was at NYCC!? He’s real! He was at some writing conference in San Francisco haha

I guess Kumail is already on his way to becoming a astronaut.

I thought Chromatics is the music for Drive? Or at least some of it.

  16. Knuckle says:

Sonic the Hedgehog is one of THE highest selling comics on the stands right now and has been for 10 plus year.
Take a look around Meltdown next time.

  17. Jim Jab Jim says:

After reading a few of these comment sections, it’s apparent that the same person, or personality type, is trolling Emily. He/she must have run out of youtube clips of female comedians. Kind of strange that this isn’t obvious, but you don’t really have a relationship with someone because they respond to your comment.

  18. Phillip Medoc says:

^^^ Get a load of this guy.

Looking forward to seeing you guys in Portland! Awesome. Cool about the Ground Kontrol thing; it’d be fun to play against Emily or Kumail at some game. Street Fighter maybe?

  19. Post-Meister-General says:

I can’t delete my comment. I haven’t listened to the whole episode. She might make a comedic comeback.

  20. Post-Meister-General says:

    Emily. Good Writer. Comedian?….eh?

  21. Joshua Bryan Hammack says:

Hey guys… guess who is coming to see Kumail and Jonah for the Seattle meltdown Show? If you are looking at my thumbs you see they are pointing at me.

  22. Yamface says:

Singing along to Duck Tales in the background around 20 mins in.

Also Strider was eight megaBITs, which is one megabyte. So not even one song.

  23. Stephen Militello says:

How about calling the con audio diary CONversations. huh? huh?

  24. Jamie says:

You have to call it the Conairy…and say it in a Scottish accent.

  25. Tillburg says:

Oh glory good y’all Kumail does an eerily accurate impersonation of that Akuma. Well done!

Also my recommendation for a good horror movie would be to search “Tyler Perry” then hit shuffle. Oooo scary.

  26. ItsAlrightPodcast says:

Love Kumail the hype-man–can you guys do 10 minutes of podcasting right before bedtime once in a while so we can get more tired/crazy Indoor Kids? Way fun 🙂
