PERSONA 5’s Joker Joins the SUPER SMASH BROS. ULTIMATE Line-Up

During Thursday night’s  The Game Awards, Nintendo had a big surprise we didn’t see coming. A trailer for the first DLC character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate revealed that Joker from  Persona 5 will be joining the fight in the near future.A Japanese version of the announcement was released simultaneously, and both the English and Japanese casts reprise their roles in the trailer. Keen ears that spent over 100 hours with Persona 5 will perk up at the voices of Ryuuji, Morgana, Ann, and Yusuke.

Persona 5 is a stylish role-playing game that came out for the PlayStation 4 in 2017 to critical and popular acclaim. Joker is the protagonist and player character. He and his friends call themselves the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, but the treasures they steal aren’t money or jewelry. The prizes they seek are the “hearts” of those in need of redemption. The DLC announcement immediately had fans buzzing as they wondered if it means a Nintendo Switch version of the game might be on the way soon. And, following in true Smash style, could a Joker amiibo also be in the works? Super Smash Bros. Ultimate came out today, Friday, December 7, and already features a staggering cast of characters. Joker will be joining the ranks alongside Smash mainstays like Mario, Kirby, and Link and new fighters like Super Mario‘s Daisy and Animal Crossing‘s Isabelle.The Persona 5 DLC pack will be priced at $5.99 and will include Joker, a new stage, and musical tracks. Five total Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC packs are planned, with a Fighters Pack bundle priced at $24.99 also available.
