STAR WARS: REVENGE OF THE SITH Gets a Shot-for-Shot Fan Remake

STAR WARS: REVENGE OF THE SITH Gets a Shot-for-Shot Fan Remake

Have you ever wanted to randomly remake one of the Star Wars films from beginning to end with your best friends? It seems like a ludicrous proposal, and yet it’s already been done. Andrew Duncanson and Tim Hoekstra have remade Revenge of the Sith alongside a handful of their friends while using very limited resources. It’s a far cry from the original film, but it has been finished and released into the wild.

Via io9, the fan-made Revenge of the Sith remake doesn’t even try to hide its lack budget or production values. In fact, the cast members can barely keep a straight face while performing George Lucas’ script as it was originally written. There are even a few times when they can’t help but laugh, even at the darkest moments within the film. That attitude is actually part of the remake’s charm. Everyone involved knows that it’s a joke, and they embrace it.

If you’ve watched the remake, you may have noticed that there weren’t enough people involved to fill every role.  That’s why Daniel Nichelson portrays Mace Windu and Obi Wan Kenobi; Hoekstra plays Count Dooku, General Grevious, and C3PO; while Hamish Duncanson takes on Yoda, Bail Organa, Commander Cody, and others. Finally, Samuel Nicholson headlines the production as Anakin Skywalker, and Liam Duncanson plays Padme Amidala.

It’s worth watching, if only to see how certain scenes, like Anakin’s turn to the dark side and the massacre at the Jedi temple, play out in this context. As noted by io9, the final battle between Anakin and Obi Wan is a particularly ridiculous encounter within this film. But you’ll just have to watch it to see what we mean.
