SNL’s Vanessa Bayer Gives (Horrible) Sound Advice to St. Vincent

Every one needs a stellar media coach to cheer them on and keep them on the straight and narrow, right? Well, if you’re really, really lucky, you might just get paired with Janessa Slater. If you’re not familiar, Janessa is the alter ego of SNL‘s hilarious Vanessa Bayer. She plays the character on Above Average’s web series “Sound Advice” and this week she’s giving advice to Nerdist pal St. Vincent. Take a second and give this video a watch. We’ll wait.

Despite some confusion over Prince (wait, are we still calling him The Artist Formerly Known As now or is that over?) and some misconceptions about where St. Vincent is from…and her name…and you know, other things, they seem to really hit it off, don’t you think?

That is some great advice Bayer’s character is shelling out, and we’re wondering where we can sign up for sessions! Slater’s previous clients include HAIM, Tegan and Sara, and Drake. We recommend you head over to YouTube and check them all out. You absolutely will not regret it, and you might even get some really detrimental, er, we mean great advice for the betterment of your music career!

St. Vincent actually sat down with Chris and Jonah back in February for the Nerdist Podcast. We remember her having great career insights about concert microphones and sources of creativity so if you haven’t given it a listen before, make sure you do now. You will become an instant fan of the rockstar.

Now, super important question: What is the best/worst career advice you’ve gotten? Tell us in the comments below and on Twitter!
