Shaving a Cat On the Back of Your Head Is All the Rage

It’s so hard to keep up with hair trends these days. Is the lighter color supposed to be on the top or the bottom? How do I dye my hair fun colors without it looking like melted sherbet? Wait, do I want it to look like melted sherbet? Is rainbow hair still a thing? Oh god, my bathroom looks like a Crayola factory exploded. Well, buckle up, buttercups! There is a new trend and you’re going to want to get on this ASAP! Hair tattoos.

Don’t worry. It’s not a real tattoo. This one is all about shaving designs into the back of your head like Russian Instagram user Katichka did. She had her pink and blue ‘do redone when she had a picture of her cat shaved into the back of her head. She posted it with the caption, “I always take my sleepy cat with me.” Yup. If you’re interested, here’s the cat the pic is based on.

Okay, so there’s that. Katichka isn’t alone. This is now a huge thing on Instagram.

It’s not just cats. A search for #hairtattoo will bring up all kinds of fancy designs. Everything from superhero symbols to swirls to names. No, this isn’t a new thing. People have been doing this for a long time, just not on social media. As of this writing, the hashtag has 79,712 posts and Katichka’s post has been liked 16.9k times in four days. Check out one more pic below and tweet me/us @JennaBusch/@Nerdist with your favorite one. Also, how cute is Katichka’s kitty?
